Internet Gurus advise you to put testimonials through out your website to persuade visitors that you are a good person to do business with, or you have a specialty or service that is unique, you have the best information on how to do something or you know how to make money.

I don't subscribe to that way of thinking because testimonials (if they are not made up) are rewritten by the webmaster and I refuse to write and sprinkle flowery and glitzy, self serving testimonials all over the site.

A Doctor friend of mine recently said to me, you're the most honest man I know". I thanked him for giving me such a wonderful compliment, and knew I could have easily taken what he said, write up a letter, ask him to send me a picture and I'll put it on my website to substantiate how great I am. Knifing people will do it because they are reporting what was said, and probably punch it up a little to make you trust them. Because trust equals more sales.

So there you have it from the horses mouth.
